Supporting the Sangira Project

As a bakery deeply rooted in traditional craftsmanship, we are particularly passionate about promoting the baking profession. Through our involvement in the Sangira Project in Rwanda, we aim to provide young people with opportunities and help them to help themselves. The Sangira Project is a private initiative that focuses its support where it is most urgently needed.
Itʼs important to us that our help has a tangible impact and sustainably improves the lives of Rwandaʼs young people.

Donations and expertise for the Talents Bakery

In addition to financial donations, we have provided the Talents Bakery with machinery and equipment, as the existing equipment is often unreliable. The school cannot afford the necessary equipment, such as kneading machines and ovens. Our donations allow the trainees to work under professional conditions.

Our expertise also plays a crucial role. Due to the fluctuating quality of local raw materials, it’s essential to pass on the necessary knowledge to the trainees. Philipp plans to share his knowledge during a trip to Rwanda, to further optimise the work of the apprentices.

Plans and upcoming projects

We are constantly looking for new ways to support the Sangira Project. One idea is to send our staff to Rwanda during the off-season to teach and gain valuable experience.

Philipp hopes to offer some tips and suggestions for improvement to further enhance the quality of the products. In addition to developing new products using local ingredients, the bakery is already contributing partially to the funding of the hotel school. This is a valuable form of support for the region, where youth unemployment is high, as Jackie mentioned in her interview.

Long-term vision

In the future, we would like to see the baking profession firmly established in Rwanda, and the training programmes further expanded. These projects are still in the early stages, but we are confident that some of them could become reality soon. The association proves that craftsmanship and social responsibility can go hand in hand to create something positive and sustainable.
